Our Curriculum

A Complete Education for Mind, Character and Faith

At Odyssey Academy, we believe that a truly meaningful education should prepare children not only for academic success, but also for life.

Our curriculum brings together the Pearson Edexcel British Curriculum with a structured programme of Qur’an, Hifz, Arabic Language, Islamic Studies, and Tarbiyyah.

This integrated approach allows our students to develop strong academic foundations while growing with faith, character, confidence, discipline, and a sense of responsibility.

Our Curriculum Areas

English

We develop strong foundations in reading, writing, speaking, listening, vocabulary, comprehension, and communication.

From the early years, students are encouraged to express their ideas clearly and confidently while developing a lifelong love for reading and learning.

Mathematics

Our mathematics programme develops conceptual understanding, logical reasoning, problem-solving, and mathematical thinking.

Students are encouraged not simply to memorise procedures, but to understand why and how mathematics works.

Science

Science learning encourages children to observe, question, investigate, experiment, and develop an understanding of the world around them.

We encourage curiosity and evidence-based thinking through age-appropriate practical and exploratory learning.

Bangla

Students develop their Bangla language skills through age-appropriate reading, writing, vocabulary, comprehension, and communication activities.

Arabic Language

Arabic is an important part of our curriculum.

Through structured Arabic learning, students gradually develop their vocabulary, understanding, reading, writing, and communication skills while building a stronger connection with the language of the Qur’an.

Qur’an & Hifz

Building a Lifelong Relationship with the Qur’an

Qur’anic education is an integral part of the Odyssey Academy experience.

Our students are guided through structured Qur’an learning according to their level, including:

  • Qur’an reading
  • Correct pronunciation
  • Tajweed
  • Memorisation
  • Revision
  • Qur’anic vocabulary
  • Understanding and reflection

For students enrolled in the Hifz programme, memorisation is supported through structured learning and regular revision.

Our aim is not simply to help students memorise the Qur’an, but to develop a lasting relationship with it.

Islamic Studies

Our Islamic Studies programme introduces students to essential knowledge and practical understanding of Islam.

Areas of learning include:

  • Aqeedah
  • Fiqh
  • Seerah
  • Hadith
  • Akhlaq
  • Islamic manners
  • Salah
  • Fasting
  • Zakat
  • Hajj
  • Everyday Islamic practices

Students are encouraged to connect what they learn with their daily lives.

Tarbiyyah & Character Development

Education That Shapes Character

We believe that knowledge should influence character.

Through daily routines, classroom interactions, Islamic practices, responsibilities, and purposeful activities, we nurture qualities such as:

Honesty • Discipline • Respect • Responsibility • Patience • Compassion • Humility • Leadership

Our goal is to help students understand that good character is not simply something we talk about—it is something we practise.

Early Years Curriculum

The early years are the foundation of a child’s educational journey.

At Odyssey Academy, our Early Years programme focuses on developing the whole child through age-appropriate, engaging, and practical learning.

Children develop:

  • Early literacy
  • Phonics
  • Vocabulary
  • Communication
  • Early mathematics
  • Observation and exploration
  • Fine and gross motor skills
  • Creativity
  • Social skills
  • Independence
  • Islamic manners and values

We use playful, practical, and multisensory approaches to make learning meaningful and enjoyable.

Primary Curriculum

As students progress into the primary years, learning becomes increasingly structured while continuing to encourage curiosity, independence, communication, and critical thinking.

Our primary programme develops:

  • Strong academic foundations
  • Reading and writing proficiency
  • Mathematical reasoning
  • Scientific understanding
  • Communication skills
  • Problem-solving
  • Independent learning
  • Islamic knowledge and character

Learning Beyond the Classroom

We believe some of the most valuable learning happens through experience.

Our students are given opportunities to learn through:

Projects • Presentations • Sports • Art • Educational Visits • Competitions • Entrepreneurship • Charity Activities • Teamwork • Practical Activities

These experiences help students connect classroom knowledge with the real world.

Our Approach to Learning

At Odyssey Academy, we aim to create classrooms where students are encouraged to:

Learn → Explore → Question → Practise → Reflect → Apply

We want our students to become active participants in their education rather than passive recipients of information.

Preparing Children for Their Future

The world our children will enter will require more than academic qualifications.

They will need:

Knowledge to understand.

Critical thinking to make sound decisions.

Communication to express themselves.

Confidence to face challenges.

Character to use their abilities responsibly.

Faith to guide their choices.

This is the kind of education we aspire to provide at Odyssey Academy.

Academic Excellence. Islamic Character. Lifelong Growth.

Odyssey Academy — nurturing learners for this world and the Hereafter.
